William Middleton Sime was responsible for the establishment of Sime Darby. It started as a small British company in Melacca trading in rubber and tin. The first Sime Darby logo has a set of scales to symbolize its trading activities. Used of Chinese calligraphy in its identity – to attract Chinese traders who mainly dealt with exporting of local products.
